Don’t Live a Lie

If there is one thing that I have learned, it is to be always vigilant of the truth in the words that you speak.

Sometimes people say and do things based on assumptions. Especially, when they sensationalize issues that can be detrimental to the person they are speaking about if they don’t have all the facts right. They make up stories as they go along. They hear what they want to hear and see what they want to see. They are totally eclipsed by the truth of the matter.

Each time, I hear something being said about someone, I feel sorry for the person who does the telling. He/She will be equated to a gossiper more or less. I try as much as I can to stay away from these kinds of people. Frankly, I don’t know how to handle their gossiping ways. These people play two sides of a coin, one with a vicious tongue toward the person they are speaking about in front of you, and behind they stay friends with the one they are gossiping about.

I have also learned that until you live in a troubled or belittled person’s shoes, you will never know what they are experiencing. I find it better to be open and clear the air with the person concerned directly, rather than talking about them behind their backs. You never know what burdens they carry – poor things.

This is why I have stayed away from people I think will influence my thoughts and actions towards any person they speak about. Because ultimately, the person spoken about suffers irreparable damage. Words once uttered is very hard to take back. I hate putting someone down, no matter what the circumstances. I would rather walk away from such situations and not know the full story. I would much rather be without a friend.

It’s like living a lie to me, to say one thing and do another. To be someone in the forefront and someone else behind.

Guess, it is one of those days I wanted my thoughts on practical living out, haha.
