Just a Question…plus a great review.

So I thought I would just ask you for your opinion on this…

My renewal for this site is due soon, and I am wondering if I should continue with the premier membership. I do have a homepage since I started a blog in 2010, alittletimewithshobana.blogspot.com.

I joined WordPress three years ago thinking that it would create a passive income for me, but it hasn’t worked out that way. I have made a lot of friends here, however, I still continue posting on my previous website. I don’t pay anything and still have traffic and the regulars come back everyday to read me there. I am also working on a few pages that I want to incorporate in that website since it is quite an easy blog to use and maintain.

So, what do you think?

Some friends, including Jeff Flesch has been really supportive of my work here. Please read Jeff’s review on As Delicate as Snow on Amazon. I really appreciate that you took the time to read the book and can’t thank you enough for the great review. It means a lot to me.

In the book, As Delicate As Snow, Shobana Gomes weaves a tale of magic, mystery, and suspense. Shobana’s use of snow as an additional character in this love story guides the reader inward, toward an exploration of wondrously delicate and beautiful imagery, and profound feelings, from the angst of meeting a new potential lover, to the love that blossoms in ones heart at the realization of true love. As Delicate As Snow will make you believe in true love again. I highly recommend this beautiful love story, by Shobana Gomes. https://amazon.com/dp/B09D749VM6

  1. A tough choice. Of course, I would love for you to stay on WP, yet I can imagine managing two sites is rather time consuming. I need to visit your other site.

I appreciate the acknowledgment about the review. It was entirely my pleasure. Happy weekend, Shobana.

  2. A tough question, Shobana. I think you have to decide if it’s giving you any value at all. May not be monetary but something else. And the review is a lovely one. Congratulations! πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Shobana, Interesting questions…. I’d say in general thatsince you have the blogspot site open you mayas well keep it going as long as it is being seen.(If you feel the self-advertising helps you.)

The wordpress site obviously has more gadgetsand includes advertising. But a) is it being seenmore than the blogspot; b) is it being seen enoughto justify paying the extra money.

Finally, is having two sites taking too much timeaway from your other activities—reading, writing, working with publishers?

So, my tuppence for what it’s worth. Good to hearfrom you. Wishing you health, William

    • Hi William, thanks so much for your feedback. Yes, what you say has me thinking along those lines. I will have to gauge what works fine for me. The other thing is I have listed the wordpress blog in most of my correspondences. Thank you very much William for taking the trouble to make me see reason. Wish you great health too – shobana

  4. Your writing is certainly amazing, my friend. πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸ’•β€ I had also thought so, that one day I’d actually be able to earn directly from wordpress, but I think i realised it’s a tall order that mightn’t come any sooner for me. I still have a paucity of followers; it’s only been two months since I started serious blogging. Notwithstanding, I believe there’re better ways of utilising a website to make money. It is certainly the landing platform for a writer’s works, where they can then be redirected to the shops. It can also help one create a beneficial linkage to their social media accounts for growth. Numbers can then also be used to appeal to advertisers. More than this (a close hint of my vision), if you’re looking forward to starting a publishing firm (whether self or joint publishing) in this digital age, a website is certainly a hit out of the ballpark. With a good homepage and a business plan, you could ultimately earn directly from your site while at the same time helping others achieve their writing goals. You could have your own store and payment options to receive money directly from readers. And you’d be more focused if you worked on your dream within one site, i tend to believe. But ensure we’ve all migrated to the one site before putting the kibosh on the other 🀣. Just my sincere thoughts though… since you asked, my dear friend. β€πŸ’•β€πŸŒŸ

    • Haha, your last line got me laughing. Yes, so right you are in what you say. I have done some of those things with my other blog. However, I have a couple of weeks ago renewed my domain. I just needed some reasoning from my writer friends on my membership renewal. I thank you for detailing things out for me with clarity and wish you a great weekend, my friend.

      • Wonderful, my dear Shobana. I think you should retain the two if losing followers is something you don’t love and if money is not a thing to ponder over as it seems it is, darling πŸ˜€πŸ€—. I love reading your works, and will surely miss them if I can’t find you. Have a wonderful weekend tooπŸ’•πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸ’•βœ…

      • I am not rich or anything, Lamittan, haha. I live everyday like its a gift to be alive. One step at a time. I too started seriously writing full-time two or three years ago so am still learning and trying to keep up the pace. Thank you and you have a wonderful weekend too.

      • Haha πŸ˜„ 🀣 πŸ˜‚. I was just kiding. Anyway, let’s of pleasure, dear πŸ˜€πŸ€—πŸ’–πŸ’•πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸ’•
